As an AMA Gold Leader Club, KRC is always
looking for new members to share the fun of our hobby. If you are
interested in joining the Club we encourage you to come out to the field and
introduce yourself. Club members are usually flying on Saturdays and Sundays
between the months of March and November and are often present on
weeknights. If you need advice on purchasing a plane, engine or radio, any
club member would be glad to help. Becoming a member is simple:
-
Join the Academy of Model Aeronautics
(AMA). See
http://www.modelaircraft.org for information. You must bring
your valid membership card to your first meeting.
-
Purchase an aircraft to fly from your
local hobby store, the Internet or via mail order catalog.
-
Attend a Club Membership meeting. At
the meeting, introduce yourself to the Board (specifically the Vice
President) and announce your intention to join the Club. You will
be given an application form to fill out, the applicable fee(s) to
join and copies of the Club's
governing documents .
-
At your second Membership Meeting, Club
Members present will vote on your acceptance into the Club. If
successful, you will be asked to pay your dues and you will receive
a membership card. In addition to your dues, you will be asked to
pay a one-time $48 initiation fee.
Once you become a member, you will receive a
monthly newsletter, a membership card and a pilot log book. You are also
eligible to receive flight instruction (see below), participate in Club
events such as Fun Fly's and are entitled to use the Club flying field in
accordance with all Field and Membership rules.
All the members are asked to attend the club
meetings as frequently as possible, and to participate in the club events.
Club Dues
The Club Membership rules currently define 4
classes of membership including Regular ($96), Family, Junior and
Associate. Dues are paid on an annual basis beginning in January and ending
in December. In addition to membership dues, new members pay a one-time initiation
fee when they first join the Club.

Flight Instruction
All new members are required to work with
our instructors until they acquire sufficient skills to fly their airplane
safely. Once the instructor feels the pilot is ready, they are asked to pass
a qualification test in the presence of two instructors. Once the test is
passed the new pilot is allowed to fly solo, but instructors are always
willing to help.

any Club officer via email on the home page of this site.
